Your insurance, sorted, wherever life takes you
Living and working abroad is a unique experience. With the Expat Package Individual you arrange your cover in one go, for you and your family. Peace of mind, wherever you are.
The Expat Package Individual is one insurance package for people who temporarily live and work abroad. It combines up to nine covers, from medical and dental expenses to household contents, private liability, legal expenses and 24/7 SOS assistance, and you decide which of them you actually take. For most covers you choose one of three levels, so you can insure a risk lightly or fully. Bouvy Advies is independent and helps you build the package in English, for you and your family. Are you moving to the Netherlands rather than away from it? Then Dutch basic health insurance is usually compulsory, and that is a separate arrangement. AFM licence 12046005.

Why your home policies usually stop at the border
Most private insurance follows your address, not your passport. Move abroad and your liability cover, contents insurance and legal expenses cover from home commonly end, or keep running while quietly no longer paying out where you now live. Health insurance is the sharpest example: a policy from your home country may cover an emergency abroad for a few weeks, but not living there. That gap tends to surface at the worst possible moment, so check what stops before you leave rather than after.
Which covers do you actually need?
That depends on three questions: where you are going, for how long, and who is coming with you. A single posting of one year to a country with good public healthcare asks for something different than a family move of five years to a country where you pay for every consultation. Household contents matter if you ship your own furniture and hardly at all in a furnished company flat. Legal expenses cover earns its keep in a country where you do not speak the language or know the rules. We go through it with you so you are neither uninsured nor paying for cover you will never use.
Three levels of cover
For most policies you can pick the level that fits you, from essential protection to maximum certainty.
Standard
Cover for the most important risks, a solid baseline.
Optimal
Extra cover and higher insured amounts.
Excellent
The most extensive cover and maximum certainty.
“When I am abroad I want everything properly arranged. The package offers many options, but which of the nine policies do I really need? My advisor helps me choose, so I am never over-insured.”

Calculate your premium ↗Frequently asked
Does my current insurance still work abroad?+
Often not, or not fully. Liability, contents and legal expenses cover usually follow your address and end when you deregister. Send us your current policies and we will tell you what stops and what continues.
Can I insure my family on the same package?+
Yes. The Expat Package Individual covers you and your family in one arrangement, and you choose the level of cover per policy.
Do I have to take all nine covers?+
No. You pick only the covers you need, which is the point of the package. We help you decide based on your destination, the length of your stay and who is coming with you.
I am moving to the Netherlands, is this the right package?+
Partly. This package is built for people living and working outside their home country, but if you live or work in the Netherlands you are normally obliged to take Dutch basic health insurance as well. We arrange both.
